Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Pelvic health physiotherapy looks primarily at conditions affecting the pelvis and the muscles and attachments in and around it. Pelvic health is a sensitive area to discuss and our Physiotherapist understands this and takes time to listen to your concerns. She has over 18 years’ experience in the field of Women’s and Men’s health physiotherapy.
The conditions that she treats include:
- Urinary Incontinence
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Pelvic Pain
- Faecal incontinence
- Constipation
- Overactive pelvic floor
- Pregnancy related Pelvic Girdle Pain (previously Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction)
- Vulvodynia (Vulval pain syndrome) and Vaginismus (leads to inability to have penetrative intercourse)
- Post prostatectomy incontinence
Pelvic health involves a holistic assessment of many body systems and is extremely thorough. Education is important in these conditions and helps with the overall long-term management. Following assessment, a comprehensive treatment plan is created to help you achieve your goals.
Treatments can include exercise, muscle release techniques, biofeedback, muscle stimulation or bladder and bowel retraining.
